"It Happens" by Susan Pearl

I don't know when it happened,

I don't know where it happened-

or don't know how it happened.

But it happened-

I got old.

I have been told, "When you get your age you can expect things like this to happen".

Now I know what that means but I didn't expect it to "happen" so fast.

"The Horizon of Love" by Susan Pearl

People say there's been a change in me-

say they don't know what to think.

Little do they know this change may be-

my long awaited missing link.

Life before was only a small part-

of what it could become-

now, there's so much more and this is just the start-

I see a new horizon.

For every change I ever went through-

it brought a new horizon into view,

until I saw a glimpse of you-

reaching out to me.

You saw more in me than I ever believed there could be-

And now, I can see it too,

a new horizon of love is coming into view.

It's like the difference between the moon and the noon day sun,

Both begin and end on a horizon.

Each has a beauty in its own way-

that is needed to bring forth a brand new day.

So it is with the changes in me-

all were needed to bring this moment to be-

When all around me- a new time I can see-

I am standing on the horizon of love.

It was the changes that brought me through into the arms of loving you.

And this is where I belong--on the horizon of love--on the horizon of love.

For every change I ever went through-

I brought a new time into view-

until now, I am standing on the horizon of love with you.

Each change brought me an ability to see-

a new day and a new time had begun for me.

And this horizon of love is what I have hoped would come-

For this is where I want to be--on the horizon of love--on the horizon of love.

It begins and ends, time and time again by looking for what is true-

To see each horizon of love as it comes into view-  The Horizon Of Love.

"My Own Passing Of The Torch" by Susan Pearl

My passing of the torch to the next generation was a fifteen year process. I knew it was the right thing to do,  I had my turn and now it was their turn.  So I handed the torch to the next generation and for many years I said that I would just run beside them in case they needed any help I would be right there.  Time went on.  I made an occasional suggestion like, "Don't take the torch down that path as we don't know where it will lead or how far it will go.  Go this way as it is the shortest way."  I was wanting short daily distances each day because keeping up was getting harder for me and I thought in terms of only what I could still do instead of how much more they were capable of doing.

I, also, knew going down new ways would be good to give others the opportunity to see the torch  and give new thoughts and new discussions.

Then more years passed and I had more aging processes to manage and I could tell that I actually would be slowing down their carrying of the torch if I still tried to run beside them.  They were perfectly capable to carry the torch on their own and then someday pass it on when it is time to do so.  It took me fifteen years but I actually came to realize that I did my part while I could and for now I will watch the next generation have their turn. I know they will keep the torch lit and raised high for years to come for all to see....and I say that confidently.

"Love At First Sight" by Susan Pearl

Rendezvous with destiny and happenstance brings a chance for romance,

From across the room comes a fascinating glance

that reveals an awakening of the heart-

that wants to beat together and not apart.

Love at first sight has come to be-

A rendezvous destination that will last an eternity.

"One Another" by Susan Pearl

 Another day,  Another prayer-

I'm taking it all to God and leaving it there.

We are all in God's loving care.

Another place, Another space with lots to face,

I ask God for an outpouring of grace.

To provide an extended hand to help with the need each day-

Another time for "one another" to pray.

God loves us all very much-

I pray for His guiding touch for "one another" -that each can see a way for a new and better day.

"Stretched to the Limit" by Susan Pearl

There are times when the next stepping stone in life seems higher and harder to reach.  We can feel that we are being stretched to the limit to attain solid footing in this new time of life that change has brought to be.  We can feel like it is all we can do to make it through and stand strong.  The surprising part is when we have done it then we know we can do it again.  Somehow, making it onto this high and hard to reach stepping stone has prepared us for the next high and hard to reach stepping stone.  Maybe it has even helped condition us.  So, if ever we find ourselves being stretched to the limit we can remember that we could be attaining the next stepping stone with a new perspective for a new time in life.  We have to stretch to reach it and find the strength to push forward towards it.  It is to our advantage to keep moving forward and to grow in our insights and understanding.  Such positive and constructive traits give beneficial views that work towards the good of all. Being stretched to the limit has us reach new limits of knowing capabilities and potential that will lead to the best possible outcome and that it can be done.

"A Musical Play on a Silly Writing" by Susan Pearl

Baritone married Soprano and they had Little Alto.

Alto got with Tenor and they got Octave.

Octave married Falsetto

and, even though Falsetto wasn't true,

   they had Perfect Pitch.

Perfect Pitch's best friends are Treble Clef and Bass Cleft, nicknamed "Lefty",

They started a trio named the "Singing Scales".

No one really came to see the "Singing Scales" because most people thought

it was a new device that would sing out a person's weight.

So the "Singing Scales" trio disbanded.

"The Building Process" by Susan Pearl

On the foundation of "courage" we can build a framework to- "encourage"- and then dwell with "encouragement" each day.  This place of dwelling with encouragement is within ourselves.  It is not an external structure --it is an internal strength that can be built upon.  The higher the structure of encouragement the broader the base of our courage must be.  Let's broaden our views, let's broaden our minds and let's broaden and build higher levels of encouragement.

On the foundation of "joy" we can build a framework to- "enjoy"- and then dwell with "enjoyment" each day. The higher the enjoyment the broader the base of our joy must be.

"Kristello the Boxing Kangaroo" Part 2 by Susan Pearl

Kristello was motioned to go into the "New Ideas Committee Room".

Committee member One asked, "Where are the shoes?"

Kristello answered, "Right now the shoes are being worn by my friend, Jaykay."

"And, where is this Jaykay?" questioned committee member Two.

Kristello  then said, "Jaykay is currently a contestant in the Power Point Punchbag Contest."

"The Grand Worldwide Power Point Punching Bag Contest!!!!" exclaimed committee member Three.

"That is being televised right now!  Turn on all the televisions!" continued committee member Three.

"This is brilliant to show the shoes this way to us---absolutely marvelous," shouted committee member One.

"There is Jaykay.  It must be his turn," said Kristello.

"What timing! Simply wonderful," commented committee member Two.

The announcer on television said,   "Here comes Jaykay.  Will the top score of 645 hold or not?  Each contestant gets one kick with the right leg and one kick with the left leg to hit the bullseye on the boxing bag.  The boxing bag measures the pressure of the strike and shows the points."

Everyone watches as Jaykay does a right leg kick to the bag's bullseye.  The score light reads 1000+++ with bells and whistles sounding.

The announcer yells "Jaykay is the winner of the contest!!!"

Everyone claps.  The committee members turn to each and huddle in a quick conversation.

Committee member Two said, "Bring the boxing shoes here tomorrow and we will have a contract drawn up by then for you to sign.  We really want todo business with you."

Kristello replied, "I really want to do business with you, too."

Once home, Kristello, found the shoes returned on the table by the front door.  A note was beside the shoes.  The note read: Thank you for letting me borrow the boxing shoes.   I won the contest!  I can't wait to tell you all about what a great day this has been.  Your friend, Jaykay.

Kristello thought, "And I have a lot to tell you, too, about what a great day this has been....but next time please ask for permission before borrowing something".

"Kristello the Boxing Kangaroo" by Susan Pearl

I RECENTLY CAME ACROSS A SHORT CHILDREN'S STORY I HAD WRITTEN FOR OLDER CHILDREN----i WOULD LIKE TO SHARE IT AND HOPE IT IS ENJOYED.

The moral of the the story is to "ask before borrowing something".

Kristello,  the inventor kangaroo, is waking up to a very special day.

This is the day Kristello is going to show a new idea for a better designed kangaroo boxing shoes.

Kristello has an appointment at the Kangaroo Boxing Shoe Company and Kristello does not want to be late.

But the shoes are missing!  Kristello had put them on the table by the front door and now the shoes are gone.

There is a note on the table and the note reads,

"Dear Kristello,  I have borrowed your special design boxing shoes.  I didn't want to wake you and knew you wouldn't mind.  I want to win the power point kick punch bag contest today.  I'll bring the shoes back as soon as I can.  Thank you.  Your friend, Jaykay.

Kristello waited and watched the clock.  It was time to leave for the appointment at the Shoe Company even without the special designed shoes.

While sitting in the Company's "New Ideas Waiting Room" Kristello wondered what to do.

Kristello thought. "No matter what, I am going to tell the truth."
