"Give-Take-Keep" by Susan Pearl

In my opinion some qualities of having good character are:

Give credit where credit is due.
Take responsibility for our own actions.
Keep our promises.

"Pay In or Refund" by Susan Pearl

So many papers to go through,
So much organizing to do,
with me asking myself,  "Who? When? How?"
And then answering myself " Oh, I remember it now".
It's time to get things ready to see what is what-
If there's a plus margin or not.
The annual journey has begun---
--- will I pay in or get a refund?

" Closeness and Comfort" By Susan Pearl

I learned something yesterday at the hospital.
I saw a little boy with a very worn and washed out handmade light blue afghan.
It was obvious he cherished the afghan as he held it close to his chest.
In a matter of minutes the staff said they were ready-
and there went the boy holding his afghan and holding his dad's hand going beyond the closing doors and then out of sight.
Later I thought, "Whoever made that afghan for him did not know at the time how much comfort it would bring him in the such a real and special way today".
I, also, learned that a worn afghan has something that nothing else brand new can give--
  closeness and comfort.

" The Puzzling Puzzle " by Susan Pearl

I really enjoy solving sudoku puzzles.
One time I had a particularly hard puzzle and I had spent over two hours trying to solve it.
I didn't want to peek at the answer.
So I asked my husband to please look up the answer and read me the numbers across the top row for puzzle number 53.
After he read the numbers for the top row I said, " I am way off and I'm going to erase the whole puzzle  and start over.". I erased every number I had written down as that is my way of not accepting sudoku defeat by starting over.  I said, "This number 53 puzzle is one of the hardest puzzles I have ever done.
My husband said, "Wait a minute.  You said number 53?  I read you the numbers from the top line of puzzle number 52.
I GUESS I DIDN'T LOOK DOWN FAR ENOUGH.  I do have puzzle number 53 now and I can read the top row to you".
I said, "Never mind".

"Longlasting Saying" by Susan Pearl

There is a saying:
"The more things change the more they remain the same".

I am old enough to remember windmills on a farm-
To now seeing wind turbines in rows as we drive by-
Wind was energy then and wind is energy now.
Lately, I think of the saying in another new light.
When we enter a time of uncertainty there are things we can be certain of.
There are good people to help in a time of uncertainty-
And that we can be certain of.
"The more things change the more they remain the same".

" My Senior Discount" by Susan Pearl

Dear Readers,
My break is over and I hope to post a blog each week again.
Thank you for your patience, kindness and support.
I had a wonderful break and hope to write more blogs in the future.
Some blogs will be humorous, some will be insightful and some will be to share my thoughts--
All will be based on Faith, Hope and Love.

Best Wishes,
Susan Pearl

My 62nd birthday was such a special day because I was receiving my fist senior discount at our favorite restaurant.  I had my drivers license ready in case I had to prove I was really that old. They didn't ask for any proof. which was a little bit of a surprise to me.  I guess I looked like a honest person to them.
What a thrill having a senior discount each time we ate at the restaurant and the saved dollar never tasted so good.
A while later I made a doctor's appointment to discuss my eyes and an issue I had been experiencing.
My doctor said,  "Well, at your age you can expect things like this to show up".
I felt insulted and I think my doctor sensed that because he added, "Of course, you probably don't want to be told that".
I thought, "These things are happening too early for me.  After all, I really do think I am too young to be a senior "!
