"An idle mind is the devil's workshop".

We had a very good friend several years ago who, whenever he heard of a juvenile getting into trouble, he would say,  "That's not anything that thirteen milk cows couldn't take care of ".  There is a lot of wisdom to his words because there is something about keeping busy that keeps us out of trouble.  A balance of work and play throughout the day is best for the child while growing up.  A combination of interesting things to do and appropriate responsibility are good to teach.   The tendency for boredom becomes less and that makes the need to find something to do less, also.  It ,also, shifts evening activities to not want to go out and about because of being  tired and just wanting to stay home and get a good night's sleep....because the cows need to be milked early in the morning.
With thirteen milk cows to be milked twice a day and fun games to play and the beauty of learning something new to behold it would be hard to have an idle mind.
