It's blistering hot today,
I'm itchy and pitching hay.
An icy drink waits for me,
In the shade of a big tree.
Then I'll rinse off in the pond,
The day has been hard and long.
My bed has fresh, new, soft hay,
Where under the stars I'll lay,
After I call it a day.

"Same Boat" by Susan Pearl
So many of us are in the same boat-
and it is not a yacht.
I truly think that if we have a roof over our head,
clothes on our back, good air to breathe,
food on our table and clean water to drink-
we have everything we need.
I know it sounds simplistic and basic
but I think it is a noble and realistic goal
and has great worth in a priceless way.

"An Orange for Christmas" by Susan Pearl
Whenever the holiday season nears,
I fondly remember my father-in-law telling of when he was a little boy all he got for Christmas was an orange.
The part of the story that I think is fascinating is that he didn't eat the orange right away.
He played with it all day pretending it was a toy-
Savoring the fragrance, rolling it on the floor and maybe he and this brothers even played catch with their oranges....what special fun.
How juicy each bite of the orange must have been at the end of Christmas day.

"My Heart of Gratitude" by Susan Pearl
My personal start to having a grateful heart...
It all begins with having an awareness of the good around me.
Having this awareness leads me to expressing my acknowledgement of the beauty
and wonderful joys I have known and have been given.
This acknowledgement gives me more joy and I am grateful for my life
and for the ways of getting through the difficult times of change and challenge,
and the gentle, kind times of pause and reflection.
An attitude of gratitude for me begins with the realistic awareness
and realization of the good in my life,
expressing that realization-
and expressing my thankfulness for it.

"White Buffalo" by Susan Pearl
There is a picture on the wall of my doctor's office that simply carries me away,
I think I could look at it all day,
As the picture catches my eye,
The time in the waiting room flies by.
All I know is that there is something so special about this white buffalo.
It is pictured at night under moonlight,
The white buffalo is standing at the edge of a partially frozen pond,
The flawless white snow laying where no tracks of any kind have been placed upon,
Undisturbed, quiet with gentle gray clouds floating in front of the moon,
It captures a moment in time that the heart knows will be leaving soon.
This white and gray vision of these two variating colors create a mystic scene,
Without the use of my favorite colors of blue, red and green.
It truly is one of the most unique pictures I have ever come across,
To describe this wintery freeze frame my words are at a loss.
Like a teacher teaching and explaining something new,
There is more and more for me in this picture coming into view.
And there it is, Ah Yes, no guess, as I know what is so special about the white buffalo,
It is there to remind me of the rare moments in time,
Like a temporary opportunity that is free for me to see,
A rare moment in time that is special to find,
It is here and then it will disappear,
Like a rainbow, like seeing a white buffalo.
I think I could look at it all day,

" The Fossil and the Egg " by Susan Pearl
An old fossil displayed by a fresh egg
may seem like an unlikely pair.
But, really, one without the other
will lead nowhere.
For we need the good that has come before us to make a way
to be where we are today.
And we need the new life coming on so none would have been in vain.
Because Faith, Hope and Love remain.
may seem like an unlikely pair.
But, really, one without the other
will lead nowhere.
For we need the good that has come before us to make a way
to be where we are today.
And we need the new life coming on so none would have been in vain.
Because Faith, Hope and Love remain.

" The Call " by Susan Pearl
There are miracles right now wanting for us to find,
They want to shine-
bringing a brightness to the moments we live,
showing the joy and love we have to give.
So by looking for the good
no matter what,
We see we have more than we have not,
This renews us in mind, heart and soul-
over and over again a new time of green will grow.
For there are visions waiting to be seen
that will bring the hope to build a dream,
Because in each of us there rests,
A desire to do what is best-
This becomes a call
to give ourselves for the good of all.

" Faith, Hope and Love Remain True " by Susan Pearl
Of every other thing, Faith, Hope and Love remain true,-
to guide, to support and for comfort, too.
So many good aspects and strengths that they will bring and do-
Of every other thing, Faith, Hope and Love remain true.
Time after time they outlast what is happening or what has been,
To bring whatever is needed to make it through,
Over and over again,
Faith, Hope and Love remain true.
to guide, to support and for comfort, too.
So many good aspects and strengths that they will bring and do-
Of every other thing, Faith, Hope and Love remain true.

" Rear View Mirror " by Susan Pearl
Keeping things in our rear view mirror-
Having them behind us-
has nothing to do with being in a car,
It has nothing to do with speed or passing lanes,
It has everything thing to do with us "Moving On"-
It is by, with and through wisdom that we "move on".
Putting things in our rear view mirror,
Not having these things in front of us blocking a new view-
Takes strength to apply the knowledge we know to be true,
And that strength comes by, with and through -----
"Wisdom".

" We've Got To " by Susan Pearl
My blog is in remembrance of lives lost in the Florida school shooting of last week.
So much meanness- so much ugliness,
So many beautiful lives so short-
How long will this go on?
I believe--- no "one" has the answer but "together " we do-
we've got to.
With heartfelt sympathy and condolence,
Susan Pearl

"Parallel Line" by Susan Pearl
Love is the greatest of all emotions-
Love is the connecting line.
Love connects your heart with mine.
With high mountains in between-
Keeping each other's views from being seen,
We can rise above-
with the vision of a dream,
a dream of what is close in each other's heart
and bringing it together in time,
Love can be like a parallel line
to reach each,
Love is the parallel line
that draws us to meet
to have the better days,
in the best for all of ways
that we can finally see and agree.
Love is like a parallel line bringing together your heart and mine.
Love is like a parallel line drawing your heart to mine.
Each parallel line of love takes time
for a mutually beneficial way to find.
Love is the connecting line.
Love connects your heart with mine.
With high mountains in between-
Keeping each other's views from being seen,

"Prospector Frank - Tale of Fiction" by Susan Pearl
Prospector Frank was a cranky but kind old man,
Leaning on his walking stick was how he would stand,
He had curvature of the spine,
Yet, one day he took the time to plant a seedling pine,
And it must have been a tender sight to see,
The rough old man planting the pine on one bended knee
and saying loudly in his gruff voice, "Reach for the sky
and you'll do just fine.....
reach for the sky, little pine."
People say Prospector Frank had struck it rich,
He planted the pine while passing through,
And after he left the pine grew each day an inch.
Until it has become one of the most beautiful pines that anyone could ever view,
A vision of great richness, free to see,
From a man passing through who knew-
That the hidden potential of the pine, combined with time
and reaching, reaching ,reaching for the sky would do just fine.
And become all it can be,
With somehow being a lesson of great value, too,
of the good that can be done while passing through-
for those that follow and who later come
will be the ones to enjoy such good being done.

"Together Mountain" by Susan Pearl
When we have a monumental mountain to climb,
And we have to take it one step at a time,
If we would all join together and follow through-
It is incredible the possibilities that together we can do.
For there are those mountains that if we can all join into one force,
Each talent, each ability, each unique skill will steady the coarse,
Showing by far new heights of sights and ways for us to see,
Ways that are made possible by combining efforts-
And forming perspectives of the good that can come to be.

" The Lighthouse Fog Horn Warning " by Susan Pearl
Needing direction or warning of hazard in the darkness of night
is different, yet, the same as needing direction or warning of hazard in the thick fog of day.
I remember visiting with a lady and she told it was difficult living close to a lighthouse
because of the loud horn sounding. She shuttered when she remembered the loudness of the fog horn.
I hadn't ever thought of the sound aspect of a lighthouse. I had only thought of the light aspect of lighthouse in the darkness of night.
Fog can be so thick and dense that light has difficulty penetrating through it. But sound can warn through fog without hindrance.
Some people can acclimate to the blaring fog horn of the lighthouse and to the degree that it doesn't bother them. Others use ear plugs and headphones to keep the harsh loud sound at a minimum level.
Let us "REMAIN" mindfully aware of our surroundings and know that through faith, hope and love that ways upon ways are available bringing assistance during times of needing direction in life. Such direction can reach us in the darkness of night or in the dense fog of the day. As we "Remain" aware we will find through faith, hope and love what is not only better for us but will, also, be for the good of all.

" A Very Wonderful Question " by Susan Pearl
She asked a very wonderful question.
A question that was so vast yet concise,
so precise yet so boundless.
Her question was:
"Why worry when you can pray?"

" Knowing a Friend " by Susan Pearl
To know you , my friend,
is to know a person of great depth of character
and great height of standards.
With great strength you live your principles
abiding by these principles in a consistent and steadfast manner.
That is integrity.
You remain true,
by faith, hope and love you keep leading through,
having respect and dignity for yourself and for others, too,
giving credit where credit is due,
telling of the great things that have been done for you.
That is humility.
