I love a beautiful sunrise,
Except when I am driving due east and the brightness of the sunrise is in my eyes,
I love a beautiful sunset and the illuminated clouds of bright colors in gorgeous skies,
Except when I am driving west and there is a glare from the sunset in my eyes,
I guess what I am trying to say today in a round about way,
There are exceptions to the rule due to different settings that "come what may".

June 28- "Third Degree" By Susan Pearl
Whenever I choose to make a decision that I think is best for me,
I know there are some people who will give me the "third degree",
And so I think this an important part of living and being free,
Is to respect but rise above what others "third degree" want me to be,
And to know we can agree to disagree,
So being given the "third degree" is part of the my "progress" philosophy,
Because if I'm not strong enough to withstand a "third degree" you see,
Chances are I won't have the strength to make it to where I want to be.

June 27- "My Glass" By Susan Pearl
Is the glass half full or half empty,
Both answers are really correct,
They say one outlook is positive,
The other outlook is negative,
But I wonder who's glass is it?
If it is my glass,
And there is only half amount to go,
I will drink the remaining liquid definately a little slow,
And try to enjoy and make it last,
Before it becomes a part of my past.

June 26- "Common Translator" By Susan Pearl
There was a person who seemed so distant and unfriendly,
Indifference was the atmosphere of being near to this person,
We both spoke English but it was like we didn't speak the same language,
It was like we couldn't understand each other's point of view,
One day we happened to be waiting in the same room,
A radio was playing ever so softly in the background,
While waiting this person suddenly got up from a chair and went over to the radio,
Then the person turned the volume of the radio to be higher while explaining that the song playing was a favorite,
I listened and heard one of the most beautiful and sentimental songs that I have ever heard,
Even though this person and I didn't seem to communicate well, music became a common translator between us,
Because the beautiful song playing on the radio became a favorite song of mine, too,
So, I know that if this former distant acquaintance and I would have to be together today,
There is a common song we both would enjoy to hear it play more so than any words we could say, and that's o-kay.

June 21- "Worthwhile Feelings" By Susan Pearl
It is best to choose wisely what we put our time and energy into,
Because our time is fleeting and our resources are depleting, too,
And worthwhile feelings will last past when we are done and when we are all through,
So it is best to choose wisely in whatever we say and in whatever we do,
That's when we apply the true rules of conservation to ourself and we will understand,
Our talents, time, and abilities have been used for the best and as wisely as we can,
Giving us worthwhile feelings of time well spent, talents well used and life has been grand.

June 20-"Life's Sprints And Marathons" By Susan Pearl
There are sprints and there are marathons,
In a marathon a person has to keep coming on strong for real long,
I've heard pacing is the success for marathon racing,
The sprint, however, is to give it your all real fast, like an energy blast,
Becasuse the length of the race is shorter and won't last,
I've not participated on a track in the running sport or worn runner's shorts,
But life has had fast paced sprints and endurance marathons for me of many different sorts.

June 19- "Endless Trail" By Susan Pearl
To go the path of bittererness is like following an endless trail into another unhappy day,
Leading only to more paths of bitterness that will bypass roads to happiness along the way,
Choosing not to take such a bypass is caused by the "avoidance of forgiveness",
To avoid forgiveness keeps a person on the endless trail of bitterness,
And keeps a person from entering new avenues,
Without ever knowing the happiness these new avenues could have led to.

June 18, 2012 "The Nose Knows" By Susan Pearl
Outdoors---I like the fresh smell of the pines from time to time,
Indoors----And the smell of brewing coffee especially during morning until noon,
Earthy---I like the smell of rain or the smell of just tilled soil,
Pungent Odor---Yikes! Reeking rotten eggs or a wiff of a poteneial leathal chemical fume,
Perfume Scents---Oh, wow, the fragrace of a rose or lilacs in bloom,
Spice Scent---Or a warm yummy apple cinnamon dessert in the room,
From the presence of pleasure to the presence of danger--the nose knows.

June 14- "Taking Time For Pearls" By Susan Pearl
Pearls take time and we all know why,
But something shiny can quickly catch our eye,
And we know, too, because we have been told-
To be warned for all that glitters is not gold,
And even the sparkles of the morning dew,
Can look like glittering diamonds, too,
But the welcomed sight of the rare and unique beauty of the pearl we recognize,
And it is one of life's many real teasures hidden before our very eyes,
How rich a life for the person who finds life's pearls along the way,
And this person is aware to take time to notice them night and day,
Yes, pearls "take time" in more ways than one,
The pearl itself takes time and we, too, "take time" to look for finding beauty to happen,
And when it does --- it is because --- "pearls take time".

June 13, "The Pearl Process" By Susan Pearl
Living with a painful irritation can get to be hard to take,
But remember what living with an irritation can make,
Because the pain and irritation of a grain of sand inside the shell fish shows,
A special coating of protection forms and from this process a treasured pearl grows,
So learning to live with an irritation can bring a new depth of self that is there to find,
And sets apart our new found ability within us that is a rare and a true one of a kind,
An ability that allows us to see a new way to be, with beauty far beyond what we have ever known,
Because this ability forms a new insight, a new direction with great value and worth shown,
For somehow out of all of this process upon process--- something very beautiful has grown.
Personal note:
My Dad died when I was one year old.
It was painful to me growing up without a dad.
It hurt that I could not know him.
Through this came my ability to know love in a unique way.
I do not have a memory of him but yet I know his love for me.
I found the pearl of peace that 'I am fine' and have acceptance of my own life's unique design.
And I have an appreciation for the good things that life and others have shown to benefit me,
And carry this appreciation knowing that some of the people who gave such love I may not get to see.

June 11- "A Pearl Of Life" By Susan Pearl
Pearls take time,
Some pearls are very hard to find,
To me, a pearl of life is to discover something of value,
Something that brings much worth with new depths of understanding,
This discovery can be about ourself, about life, about nature and surroundings,
Seeing these things in a new and better way brings about an appreciation,
Because we know now something of great meaning that we hadn't known before,
And somehow learning this opens up a door for discovering and learning more,
Some pearls are hidden before us each day, some will form with time,
All we have to do is to look for them because they are there for us to find.
