Jan.28- "Things To Do" By Susan Pearl

Just because a hoop is held up to us doesn't mean that we have to jump through,
Pleasing those holding the hoops can become just too much and we've got our own things to do.

Jan.27- "No Bees Please" By Susan Pearl

I know I'm suppose to take time to smell the roses,
And I know roses do have thorns,
But the thought never occurred to me,
That there could be a hidden bee,
Because it had never happened before,
But the roses growing in a garden are not like those bought in a store,
So, for beautiful garden roses it is best to walk on by a suspicious buzzing rose,
Otherwise, there could be more than a lovely fragrance awaiting my nose,
We have to be aware of our surroundings each and every day,
And, in a round about way, that is what this "bee writing" is trying to say.

Jan.26- "Pushing The Envelope" By Susan Pearl

"Pushing the envelope" is a common phrase,
Imagine a purposal is written down and that proposal is put into an envelope and then the envelope is pushed across the table to to see if the purposal is accepted or rejected,
"Pushing the envelope" is in constant motion each day in a variety of so many ways,
Needless to say, in so many aspects of life 'the envelope in being pushed' if not in one way it will be pushed in another sort of way,
Limits are being tested,
"Pushing the envelope" is a matter of public involvement,
Because "pushing the envelope" is a mater of public evolvement
Some purposals are rejected because they cross a line,
Some purposals are accepted because they have potential for the a line to be redefined.

Jan.25- "Dishonesty Is A Disguise" By Susan Pearl

It is to me such a surprise
 when I realize
 that I did not recognize
 a disguise
when it was right before my very eyes.

I guess I like to see
 what I want to be
like some sort of a fantasy
 instead of what is really
 there for me.

So, a sudden scary surprise
 can arise
 before my eyes
 undetected by lies
 and hidden by dishonesty's disguise,
Making me realize-  I do like to think the best of others but I also like keeping it real,
And that means going with the facts they show me instead of how I feel,
These facts work both ways for I have to be honest about what the facts are showing me about myself, too,
Because self dishonesty is, also, a disguise that obstructs the eyes from seeing what is real and true.

Jan.24- "Once Is Enough" By Susan Pearl

For some people I find it best to follow this advise:

They showed me once who they are,
They don't need to show me twice.

Jan.23- "Willingness" By Susan Pearl

Somewhere, sometime in a process of progress there has to be a consistant willingness,
A willingness to learn,
A willingess to listen,
A willingness to pay attention,
A willingness to work,
A willingness to do things right even when no one is watching,
A willingness to be relied upon,
A willingness to use all talents and abilities to their highest level,
A willingness of knowing how to get along with respect for others is very important, too,
And maybe it begins with that willingness to have the true process of progress in whatever we do.

Jan.21- "Time and True Outcomes" By Susan Pearl

Anxiety, to me, is having a thought outside of reality,
Because only time will tell the good or the bad that will really be,
We don't know which way some things will go,
And giving it time is the only way for the true outcome to show,
So thinking the worst and that things will go wrong,
Is not giving credit to the good possibilities that are equally as strong.

Jan 20- "Start With Patience" By Susan Pearl

I was watching a remodleing project on TV,
It showed that for the placement of heavy tiles on a wall it is best to do only one or two rows of tiles at a time,
Then a person has to wait for the mortar to completely dry,
Otherwise, if more rows of tiles are added with the mortar not being dry the tiles could become uneven and wouldn't be in a straight line or the tiles could collapse and come tumbling down all around,
Some things done fast will not last,
In life there are things that can not be done in a hurry,
It takes time to have the proper support system put into place,
Giving these things the needed time does take patience on our part,
So having patience has to be the first thing in place at the very start,
And having such patience will pay off in the long run,
When over the years we can keep seeing such a long lasting job that was so very well done.

Jan.19- "The Regifted Bird" By Susan Pearl

We received a green and yellow extra peppy parakeet for a gift,
But, for us, the bird interrupted needed day sleep after working a night shift,
So we regifted the happy bird to a retirement place where the bird could enjoy the light of each day,
There the bird became the center of attention and entertained  the people by singing away,
So this shows in a real way a fact we should be reminded to tell,
That if something doesn't work out in one place then in another setting it may work out very well,
And a change of place can be best for all,
Because the regifted bird became the "Bell of the Ball".

Jan.18- "Omission" By Susan Pearl

What is an omission?
Like,- is it an omission to leave the work and go fishin'?
The fish don't always bite like they do today,
So why omit an opportunity like that and let it slip away?
The work will always be there and so an important question I do have to ask,
Is it alright or an omission to go fishin' and not do the work task?
It is so inviting when the fish are biting,
And the work is there and will be waiting because it is not going anywhere,
So to be responsible what is the correct thing to do,
Surely not to let an opportunity of catching fish to slip through,
Surely not to leave the work to do,
Maybe after the necessary work is done,
That's the time to have some fishing fun,
And then the best of both worlds has gotten some attention,
With neither one having an omission, this now answers my question.

Jan. 17- "Life's Ebb and Flow" By Susan Pearl

We don't have to be on a beach to know,
That life has times that come and go, like an ebb and flow,
And all we can do is watch and see it be high and then get low,
For these things are out of our control,
But all the while love remains steadfast and love will continue to last,
Not being swept away but staying strong in times that go right and times that go wrong,
So love's constant presence will show through it all, as life's ebb and flow come and go,
Love is the strongest of all forces,
Love has inexhaustable sources,
Love will be there all the way through---no matter what, no matter who.

Jan. 16- "Ingenuity" By Susan Pearl

Ingenuity is a wonderful sign of great success,
Because it shows that a person is not oppressed,
And thoughts of new and better ways are seen to help fill a need,
Improvements to benefit others and for the good of all to succeed.

Jan.14- "Living Reality" By Susan Pearl

If tomorrow is pre-reality,
And yesterday is post-reality,
Then today is our present reality,
And that is where our thoughts should be,
Otherwise, we may be wishing our life away,
By living in the past or for the future day after day,
Thinking tommorrow will hold our dreams,
Or by reliving the past with old familiar scenes,
Today is not getting ahead of ourselves or staying behind.
It is living in the present moment and taking one thing at a time.

Jan.13-"A Beautiful Moment of Reflection" By Susan Pearl

Some things in life have an unique beauty all of their own,
And such beauty is very recognizable where ever it is shown,
Like the beauty of a rainbow is easy to find,
Because of the rainbow's "one of a kind" special design,
Not all rainbows are in the sky but are quick to identify,
For it seems like a rainbow will always catch our eye,
Like the rainbow of a reflecting arch in a waterfall,
Or a rainbow appearing in the mist of a sprinkler making us recall,
When we saw children runing through a sprinkler on hot summer day,
And remembering their laughter and the fun of seeing them at play,
There is one requirement for seeing a rainbow, our back has to be towards the sun,
So the reflecting light comes back to us like a rare phenomenon,
A beautiful moment of reflection that will come and go,
A "one of a kind" design that gives to us a moment that only it can show.

Jan.11, "Clarity" By Susan Pearl

After confusing thoughts of anxiety leave the scene,
There comes a clarity that only peace of mind can bring.

Jan.10-"Life's Education Student" By Susan Pearl

Learning from past mistakes can be an education in disguise,
For applied knowledge is the way of the wise,
The past does not have to be in vain,
If we do not repeat again the same things that brought us pain,
For each of life's lessons that we pass through will bring us to the next level of learning,
And show us that all the while the pages of our own journey in time will keep turning,
So it is best to learn while we can,
And try to understand,
For there is so much to take in,
And comprehend,
For learning throughout our life really does not end.
Will the pages of our ongoing journey that time keep turning,
Show what lessons in life from our journey we are learning?
Life is a teacher, and we are students, too,
And once in a while a signed report card becomes due.

Jan. 9- "My Dollhouse Windows" By Susan Pearl

When I was young my dollhouse gave me so many hours of play,
And for some reason I don't think I ever really put it away,
At first I wanted only rose colored windows for my dollhouse world of pretend,
I liked seeing things through rose colored windows back then,
As I thought everyone and everything was my friend,
But one day my world of pretend came to an end,
My dollhouse toppled over while it sat safely on the floor,
This shaterered the rose colored windows---they were no more.
I replaced the rose colored windows with clear windows one by one,
Until I put the last clear window in place and I was finally done,
I liked looking at life through these windows that were clear,
And I wanted these windows to sparkle and shine year after year,
So I could see things and people as clearly as I possibly could,
Showing me the things about life and myself to be understood,
The clear glass windows have lasted until my older days,
But now the windows are being removed and given away,
And I will now have new lightly tinted windows everywhere,
Windows with no glare so I can see what I think is really there,
And I see my dear memories through a tinted window 'sort of way',
Because there are some areas of them that are now a little cloudy and gray.

Jan. 6- "Just In Case" By Susan Pearl

I remember being told how to have a change in pace,
How to get out of the rat race and end a relentless chase,
I should, "Do the important things first and everything else will fall into place",
So I try to- "Do the important things first and hope that everything else will fall into place",
Then I brace myself not knowing what I may face,
With a back up plan, "just in case".

Jan. 5- "Dungeon Dread" By Susan Pearl

I have never played Dungeon and Dragons,
But I do know if my workplace seems like going into a dungeon I will come out a draggin'.

Jan.4- "Seasons of Relationships" By Susan Pearl

Some relationships can go cold,
Cold as ice and snow,
And nothing can grow,
Some relationships stay fresh and are like Spring has just sprung,
And there are bells of fun and happiness to be rung,
Some relationships get too hot to handle,
And it is best to wait until things cool down,
Some relationships are so full of beauty but can quickly fade,
But their beauty remains within us with the memories that were made,
Seasons and relationships teach about life's ongoing process of change,
And that surroundings and circumstances with time will rearrange,
When one thing moves on or comes to an end,
Something else or another new time is starting to begin.

Jan. 3- "The Best" By Susan Pearl

The best is ahead for me and for you, too,
When love is the one leading us through,
Because love will lead us to what is true,
And truth will show us what is best to do.

Jan. 2- "The Hill of Beans" By Susan Pearl

As silly as it seems,
I got stuck in a hill of beans,
It wasn't worth a thing, but I thought I had something to prove,
So I stayed right there to make a point and instead I made a groove until I couldn't move,
I had to learn how to reroute my thinking for new thoughts to show me a better way,
And not try to go through and get stuck in that same rut each day,
All of this was costly in the time and effort to me,
Now, I know what the right question that I ask should really be,
And that question is ---"Is is worth it or not?"
"Weigh the pros and cons and see what I've got,"
Sometimes the answer is yes--do pursue,
Sometimes the answer is no--just walk away and let it go,
I can choose,
Which things I want to try to win or may lose,
So then, if it's not worth a hill of beans,
It's not worth the time taken away from pursuing hopes and dreams.
